The Shooting Collar Locator provides depth correlation when running perforating guns, tubing punchers or tubing cutters. It detects tubing and casing collars to correlate tool depth with the completion tally before activation.
The passive magnetic sensor generates an analogue signal at surface as it passes changes in metal mass. This allows collar detection without applying line power for the measurement. A quad-diode arrangement provides protection against stray voltage and radio-frequency signals passing below the CCL.
